Mark Spiro Death – So long, Mark Spiro. Among the most talented singer-songwriters in the Americana/melodic rock/pop genres. He has written songs for a wide variety of artists, including Giant, Heart, Cheap Trick, John Waite, Bad English, Julian Lennon, and many others, in addition to his solo work. All of his girls and wife are in our prayers.

A. Spiro, Mark Julian Lennon, Cheap Trick, John Waite, Heart, Lila McCann, Laura Branigan, Bad English, Lita Ford, and Giant are just some of the musicians that Spiro has contributed songs to. Spiro’s music has been featured on millions of recordings that have been moved around the world. There have also been sporadic releases of solo material by him. At the beginning of his 20s, Spiro uprooted his life and moved to Los Angeles in order to pursue a career in the music industry. He met German record producer and label owner Jack White while he was in Los Angeles. After that, he spent several years in Germany working as a singer, songwriter, and producer (with artists such as Laura Branigan, Anne Murray, Engelbert Humperdinck, Pia Zadora, Hazell Dean, and David Hasselhoff).

Upon Spiro’s return to Los Angeles in the middle of the 1980s, he began to establish himself as a successful songwriter by contributing his first major cut to the soundtrack of the film Top Gun. Since then, he has continued to compose songs and create music for other artists. Jimmy Iovine and Interscope Records offered Spiro a recording contract, making him one of the first performers to be signed by the label. As a consequence of scheduling issues and political maneuvering, Spiro decided to leave Interscope Records.

He went on to make a solo album titled “Care of My Soul,” which was eventually distributed in Japan, Scandinavia, and Australia. Sun Hill Production was the label that handled the publication of his brand new album, titled Care Of My Soul Vol. 2, in September of 2012. It was also about this time that an extended edition of the album Care of My Soul Vol. 1 was made available for purchase. The two CD albums can be obtained on all digital platforms and formats, and they are also available in digipack packaging with booklets that range from eight to twelve pages in length. Spiro collaborated with Julian Lennon and Steven Tyler to write and produce the duet “Someday” in the latter half of 2012.

In addition, Spiro created music for his daughters Ruby and Summer Spiro, who subsequently released music under the name Ruby Summer under the label Lyric Street Records. 66–67 years old, Spiro passed away from cancer in March of 2024.
