Lorraine Weikel Obituary, A Beloved Resident Of Glen Mills, PA, Has Sadly Passed Away

Lorraine Weikel Obituary, Death –  On Tuesday, March 26, 2024, Lorraine ‘Rain’ Gail Weikel, who was 63 years old and lived in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, passed away in her home surrounded by her devoted family. She was the daughter of Carl W. Nelson, Sr. and Winifred P. (Clark) Nelson, both of whom passed away before her birth. She was born in Chester and lived in Brookhaven, Pennsylvania.

Elizabeth Weikel was the cherished spouse of Joseph Samuel Weikel, with whom she had been married for a period of thirty years. The nursing license that Lorraine received from Methodist Hospital in 1982 was gained by her after she graduated from Sun Valley High School in 1978. Her subsequent education at Immaculata University resulted in the completion of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree in 2015 and a Master of Science in Nursing degree in 2020.

Throughout the most of her professional life, she worked as an intensive care unit nurse at Methodist Hospital, which is also known as Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, located in South Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Afterwards, in her capacity as nurse manager, she was responsible for shaping and motivating a generation of young nurses. An overwhelming majority of people in the South Philadelphia community experienced her undeniable presence in their lives, whether it was as a patient, a colleague, or a part of their own family.

Even in the most difficult of circumstances, she was able to find a way to make other people laugh and bring them joy. She attended the St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Glen Mills, Pennsylvania, where she joined the congregation as a parishioner. In addition to being a talented chef, Lorraine valued the time she got to spend with her family. Her cherished dog Fitzy, who was her closest friend and an inseparable companion throughout the years, will also mourn her terribly. She will be profoundly missed by her dog.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her daughter, Samantha Elena Weikel, who resides in San Francisco, California, as well as her two siblings, Lynn Marie Galbraith (Bill), who resides in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, and Carl W. Nelson, Jr., who resides in Milton, Delaware. A large number of nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews are also among those who are left behind after her passing.

St. Thomas the Apostle Church, located at 430 Valleybrook Road, Glen Mills, Pennsylvania 19342, will be the location of the visitation on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024, from 9:15 AM to 10:15 AM. After that, there will be a mass at 10:30 in the morning. Location of interment: Lawn Croft Cemetery, 1000 West Ridge Road, Linwood, Pennsylvania 19061.
